Color is all around us. Our lives are built on color from our cars and clothes to our furniture and the walls of our homes. There’s no such thing as a “good” or a “bad” color, but clearly some colors are trendier than others. The most trendy color for 2019 is a luxurious shade called Living Coral.
2019’s choice “energizes & enlivens” in numerous applications
The Pantone Color Institute has named Living Coral as its color of the year because of its “animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.”
Living Coral resembles the color of the coral you might spot sitting vibrant yet mellow beneath the surface of blue ocean waters. It’s a calming color, one that speaks of peace and harmony. And it’s a color that works exceptionally well with many home decors.
The code for Living Coral is 16-1546. This means it’s an actual observed color, unique unto itself, that can be exactly created for just about any application. You can go to your paint store and buy some Living Coral to paint any area within your home. You also can use this color on websites, social media pages, brochures and other marketing or communications materials.
As we move along in 2019, don’t be surprised to see this enlightening shade showing up in films and television, clothing, paintings, sculptures, vehicles, kitchenware and everywhere else color is used.
Pantone, which has created a universal color “language” for identifying and selecting exact colors, says it went with Living Coral this year in part because it reminds people of “the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature.”
Pantone’s website goes on to say, “In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind. Lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, PANTONE Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color.”
What can you do with Living Coral?
With its hints of pink, orange and lazy red, Living Coral can beautify your home in amazing ways. One obvious way would be for trim work inside and outside the house. Living Coral blends well with most neutral shades and very soft colors like off-white, straw-yellow and sky-blue.
Interior rooms will come alive with mood and elegance when Living Coral paint is used on the walls and then accented with bold companion colors. This eye-catching shade also works well in smaller rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms.
At the end of the day, it’s up to you to decide on the colors that surround you all the days of your life. Experiment, let your inner decorator come alive and see what happens. Express your uniqueness, and enjoy what you come up with.
